Racial Segregation

In the book Freedom Writers the topic of Racial Segregation is one of the main topics that it focuses on as it is classified as a branch of racism.

in Diary entry 2 the person writes about how he doesn’t fit in to the class as he is the only white person there he then explains how the seating arrangement works at lunch

"everyone including me, eats with their own kind, there is a section known as "Disney land" where all of the rich white kids hang out. Then threes "China Town” where the Asians hang. The Hispanic section is referred to as either "Tijuana Town or "Run to the Border." "The Black section is referred to as Da Ghetto." then threes the "tweekers that are reserved for freaks and druggies."

the person who wrote this diary entry was not used to being in a ethnic class so it scared him, all of his friends where in the Distinguished scholars class that where almost all white.

"if I stay in here, one of two things will happen: I'll get jacked or I’ll die or boredom."

in America back in the 50s and even earlier African Americas practically didn’t get a say in anything, they couldn’t vote and they couldn’t sit at the front of the bus they had to sit at the back and if I white person wanted the seat they had to give then it. they also weren’t aloud to go to normal bars or shops and the children at school where not allowed to go to school and then when they where they had to be separated.

Even though Racial Segregation is not a part of society any more there are still prime examples of it lingering around such as the Klu Klaux Klan and heavily stereotyping.
